Molybdenum disilicide heating elements exhibit high oxidation resistance. In high-temperature atmospheres, a dense layer of quartz SiO2 forms on the surface of the element, preventing further oxidation of MoSi2. When the element temperature exceeds 1700°C, the SiO2 protective film, which has a melting point of 1710°C, melts. Due to surface tension, the molten SiO2 coalesces into droplets, losing its protective function. When the element continues to be used in an oxidizing atmosphere, the SiO2 protective layer regenerates.
When paired with an automated power supply system, it can achieve a constant temperature and automatically adjust the temperature according to process requirements via programmed curves.
